Translated to mean ‘here’ in Japanese, Koko Cafe & Bar has taken over the space previously occupied by Boudoir Lounge, directly across the road from the G:link tram stop in Southport.
A large part of the design brief from the client is that they did not want the place to look too neat or polished and one of the ways to achieved this is through the design idea of WABI SABI, a traditional Japanese aesthetics centred on the acceptance of beauty of imperfection, raw and incomplete with strong characteristic of asymmetry, roughness, simplicity and modesty.
To achieve that, the interior design has adopted concrete and concrete look like materials as a main backdrop for the interiors finishes contrast it with metallic surfaces, indoor planting and rich colours that adorn the bar’s furnishings and décor Boudoir lounge & bar offers the guests an authentic dining & lounge experience for guests who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
The design concept of Beauty Hub chermside is inspired by sophisticated modern Mediterranean vibes. The beautiful texture of venetian plaster are applied through out the interiors to allows for the smooth elements to flow into each spaces. Material are purposely selected to show evidence of the human hands that have applied it – another ‘perfect imperfection’ that adds warmth to a space.

The Chapel Hill House, One of our most exciting residential projects to date, a bold contemporary design on an enviable block of land offering unparalleled lifestyle opportunity. The house fuses robust, finely crafted character with timeless contemporary design.
At the heart of Flaming & Co.’s slender premises (which over the years has been home to a noodle joint, an Indian restaurant and a charcoal-chicken shop) sits a customised woodfire grill, which anchors the kitchen and sends flickers of light through the windows out to the restaurant’s street-facing alfresco and festoon light-lit laneway dining areas. The fit-out, designed by pdmg Studio, maximises the site’s high-ceilinged internals, with cooper, stainless steel, brick-red touches, rendered-concrete walls and a newly constructed bar (boasting vivid orange-hued backlighting) maintaining the sense warmth through to the banquette seating space at the venue’s rear (visible on the walls are Crystal’s own paintings, which add a personal touch).
